Measure 1 cup of rice and rinse thoroughly with water. Combine washed rice with 2 & 1/4 cups of liquid (water or broth) in a saucepan, cover with a lid and bring to the boil. Reduce heat to a medium setting and cook for 20 minutes. All liquid should now be absorbed. Fluff the rice with a fork to finish.
